BOUNDARIES
Important: Companion provides non-medical health management consulting. We do not diagnose, treat or prescribe. Any consultation, acupuncture or treatment takes place inside a licensed medical institution, delivered by licensed practitioners.
A trained health companion meets you at your accommodation, travels with you to every appointment, speaks for you at the registration desk, interprets what the doctor says in real time, and writes down what was decided before you leave the room.
Shanghai's major hospitals are excellent and almost entirely Chinese-speaking. International departments exist, but outside them — radiology, pharmacy, payment windows, follow-up booking — the language switches back. That is the gap this service closes.
Our companions are not interpreters hired off a list. They are trained on clinical vocabulary, hospital workflow and medical record handling, and they work to a written handover protocol: before, during and after each appointment.
